Jiffy wing bands

I ordered custom wing bands from Pinnon hatch...
they arrive tomorrow..

So what age do you put them on the birds? Is there an age you can’t do it anymore? An age that’s too young?

Help!

I install them either when moving chicks from brooder to outdoor pen or when hen weans them. Both are when chicks are about 5 weeks of age. I have lower retention rates when tags are installed earlier and do not feel comfortable installing where process can cause real damage. Older birds are not a problem at all.

I've only been using them since last year. I've put them on LF chickens as old as 15 weeks but I like to do them at about 2 weeks. You should be able to do it as young as day old but they seem a bit small to me at that age.
I do it myself but it is easier if you have another person to hold he bird.

I know this thread is a year old. I am wondering how you ended up liking your jiffy wing bands. I just ordered some in brass with the pliers because in the pictures they looked like the easiest to read the numbers.
