I have 11 2 week old Welsh Harlequin ducklings. Last night, I noticed that the smallest of the group is jittering/wobbly whenever he moves around. Niacin deficiency or something else? I am adding 1 tbsp of nutritional yeast to every cup of starter crumble they are eating. He is still eating/drinking/pooping (though his butt did have a lot of poo stuck to it last night, I cleaned him up). Any ideas?

I took a quick video to hopefully help illustrate the jittering. He kept snuggling back into the crowd though!

With that many duckling he may not be getting his fair share of the Nutritional yeast that he needs for the niacin. Can you try some B Complex in liquid and feed him some yummy meal worms or smashed peas with the B complex over top just for this lil one You can get the B Complex at TSC in the cattle section it say injectable but can be given orally to our tiny ducklings 1 ML daily over his treats or Walmart has the liquid in human vitamins that would be 1 teaspoon over fav snack [just enough snack that he gobble up in one sitting.]

Sure be worth a try to see if this might work.

They sure are adorable.

Good suggestion.

I agree. Along with maybe not getting enough because the others might be getting it, some ducklings just need more than others - the nutritional needs of every duckling is not the exact same. So it could be that this little one just needs more than the others. Along with the B complex, you might also want to add Nutri Drench to their water in case it has a deficiency not related to niacin.

I can definitely try this, hopefully he is just having trouble shoving his way in :fl

Hmm? Only one is not getting proper feed?....:th

He was definitely the smallest on arrival and needed extra TLC to get him going the first day. He does get run over on occasion as well by the troop of 'normies'.

Can you post a picture of his poop?

Not what I was planning on doing today, but here you go!

I have some Nutri Drench somewhere, but it may be expired. I will grab some at TSC as well!

Thank you all for the advice/ideas. Hoping the little guy makes it out okay!

Something happier, little jittery guy having his first bath!
