In a previous Pheasant thread JJ tried to explain to me how to sex day old Ringneck Pheasants from the ring around their eye, I had a hard time understanding it. But now I have my own chicks to practice on! I took some pictures of them and I was hoping that JJ ( or anyone that knows how to do it) could help me tell the differance between the genders. The colours that I title them as are the colours of their leg bands.

Here's hoping the bands don't fall off!!

I always just look at there legs. Males have a pen size spar.. females have none. Just have to look really close.

No,red golden you tell by the iris(around the eyeball.Silvers you have to wait, one day they look like hens, the next males.

Is this the same with lets say Silver Pheasants and Red Goldens?

Are you sure that method is accurate? I just checked them and all of them have the little spurs. I think it would be very unlikely that 6 out of 6 are males

Not sure how accurate it is, but has worked for me on ringnecks. am no expert. I found this pic... I had no luck this way..
