Wherever work sends me.
Life on the farm is NOT kinda laid back.

Share your "farming" mishaps or misfortune. Raising chickens, gardening, and all kinds of farming type areas are welcome.

My latest. Picked up a large, 4' long 28" or so diameter, piece of pecan tree with my tractor bucket. Very heavy. One of the front wheels caught a root while I was backing up and turning putting a lot of stress on the steering mechanism. Now I have a bent steering linkage, think of the front wheels being pigeon toed now. I can't remove the bent linkage so I can replace it. Time to call for some mechanical help from my brother-in-law.

John Denver obviously never had to bale hay when he was down to his last shear pin with thunderheads coming over the horizon.

He apparently hasn't tracked loose horses through two foot deep snow at -20º F.

I can almost guarantee his manure spreader never broke down with a full load on board.

The only time I've ever "laid back" on the farm was when the electric fencer knocked me flat.

My most dangerous chore is catching a rooster who doesn't want caught

Oh yeah. True story. Five years ago my horses were still at my parents' place. Dad calls at 2 a.m., the horses are out. Big deal, right...except it was -40ºF in January. What horse gets bored at -40 at 2 a.m. and picks the gate lock?! Mine, apparently.
