Zortan F2 , he is the first Marneck I was looking for ,he is only 25% marans ,I will be adding more marans to him . he is fast grower and solidly build , he did not get that from his Sire for sure , he got from his Dam .
this guy has all the traits I m trying to work with to establish the Marneck breed . he is first of all NN . rose comb . big and strong ,fast grower , thick bones ,crest ,feathered legs. 5 toes.........etc .
he will be matted to my best Marans hens to make a F3 with 62.5% marans genes . I will select for these traits= NN . Rose comb , Feathered legs .5 Toes. crested head . colored eggs . big birds like marans with low tail carriage .

now that I bred F3 marneck cockerel Zortan ,I have 2 ways to breed F4 and F5 Marneck .
Method #1 = Dark eggs layer Marneck =
I will mate Zortan to my best marans hens to produce F4 chicks with 62.5% marans genes plus this traits = NN /crest/ Rose comb/ 5 Toes/ ,big birds / dark eggs layer .

best F4 cockerels will be mated back again to a best dark eggs layer marans to produce F5.
best F4 pullets will be mated back to marans rooster to produce F5. only select and keep the one that exhibit the traits I m looking for .

Method #2 = Blue eggs layer Marneck = this one is more complicated .
first I will mate Zortan to my best 2 CLB hens { grand mothers } to produce F4 chicks with 62.5% CLB genes with MN traits .
best cockerel with all the traits will be mated to F1 MN { Grand mothers } to produce F5,
Best pullets will be mated to pure CLB rooster to produce F5 { 82 % CLB genes}

I need 2 years and great luck to achieve stage 5 . for now I ll focus on producing F4 this breeding season .

these are F2 = marans rooster X F1{ Marans X CLB } hens .they are 75% marans silver based , columbian pullet Princes2 lay Green eggs not sure about the black one yet ,
I will let them mature till next year to breed them .
i like they look .need to increase they size , I want to breed big chooks
