Judge my Cochin

I didn't think of it as criticism at all.

I just thought you may want to know his bloodline, for future reference, and see pics of his parents.

Morganton is a long drive for you. If you do come, I will be thrilled to get him. Did you end up selling the rest of the flock or decide to keep them?

Matt

Ah! The breeder himself appears! What wonderful birds!

So, is the general assumption that he just needs time? I think all Asiatics need a good dose of time before they enter the shows. LOVE a good Cochin and a good Langshan (as well as Brahmas!).

Too bad you're SO far away Matt. I'd LOVE to get some of your eggs/chicks/adult birds.

Then again...I do have another breeder down by me for Cochins...but your blacks are amazing to look at.

I think I'm beginning to like the looks of the blacks over the other varieties. And they weren't my original pick. Go figure!

If they are from Star Cochins, then YES, you have a very slow maturing line. I have many birds from them and am learning just how slow they are, lol. They have absolutely gorgeous birds so give yours a little more time and he will go from very nice to absolutely gorgeous. As far as showing goes, he may not fair the best, Star Cochins has a female line and to get a really good male is going to take a lot of outside breeding I'm afraid. I am learning this also. Best of luck with your bird, you are definitely starting out with the BEST!!!
