July 13, 2011 Hatch Day! STARTED!!!!

well I am glad to hear someone is hatching on day 23. I am on day 22. My one little sweetie piped on day 20 and hatched out early on day 21 but no more action in the incubator. He looks so lonesome! I hope we get at least one more!

BobbieChicks, I'm happy for your kids!
In 2 hrs I'll officially be on Day 24. I've had 12 hatch on Days 21 & 22. None of the remaining eggs were sinkers on the float test but they're not hatching either.
I'm thrilled beyond belief that I got 8 PERFECT baby Cochins though. Those little chicks have no idea how bad I wanted them!

Hi everyone, been missing the last couple days (non-stop company), so I have been trying to catch up on what's been going on with everyone!

Glad to hear that everyone has gotten at least one babe, no one is still waiting on the first are they?

Anyways I hope you all have at least one, but hoping for HANDFULS!

This AM I took out the last 6 eggs, I did do a float test a few days ago and candled again but I do believe for some reason they were never going to make an appearance, no movements, no sounds, no pips out of that bunch and considering 23 others had hatched, they should have done something by now with the conditions they had had.

SO in the end we had a 66% hatch rate, I have 20 live babes out of the 30 eggs that went into lockdown, and we are very happy with that...but now that it's all over - it feels like the day after Christmas - haha, BLAH! I want to do it again, but I promised my hubby I would wait until spring...we'll see - I'm thinking I'll change my mind,

And second of all...so that's what a baby turkey looks like. I was just given more chick eggs, and..two turkey eggs..those things are huge!!!! I hope I can hatch them. I know someone that will love to have them. They are Rio Grand. Good for eating??

I am at the end of day 22. I have just one chick that hatched early on the 21st day. I want to take the baby out! He is so lonely. I am keeping the temps around 100 but I think he is a little warm in there. He was panting. I still have 3 eggs that I saw movement in when I candled on day 18. I don't want to hurt their chances by opening the incubator. Is it that critical? If no eggs have pipped would it be terrible to open the incubator for just a fraction of a second to get my little guy out? Would it ruin their chances?
What do you guys think?

I took 8 babies out on the evening of Day 22 along with the empty shells. It was getting crowded and they were stumbling all over the other eggs. 4 more hatched that night before morning, every one of them did excellent. It obviously didn't hurt in my case. I've got an LG still air and I just popped one of the windows out and did it as fast as I could.
The babies all recognized our voices from inside the incubator. That was so cool.

You really had 4 hatch the night of day 22? Oh that gives me hope! I stare at the eggs and could swear I see some moving. Just keep checking and...no pips. Seems like years since I set them in lockdown.
