July 13, 2011 Hatch Day! STARTED!!!!

1st chick doing good. 2nd chick is a little stuck but helped it a bit& it's coming along. 3rd chick pipped about 1/2 way around and stopped. Not moving! Lots of red & gooey stuff coming out. I can see the beak but not moving at all. What should I do?

Anything yet? May just be resting? How long has it been?

Since I got home. About an hour. Nothing! Number 2 is out but still attached to shell. Looks yucky around it's bottom

It'll fall off, especially with all their failing around. I had two that were stuck to the egg shell for a little while but it fell off and they dried off and are doing awesome.

I don't know what to say...you'd think the other one would have at least moved in the past hour...how long ago did it first pip? Have you opened the incubator at all?

It pipped in the night or this morning. I opened it for 1 sec to assist #2 but the humidiy only went down 1% and it was already still. He looks pretty gooey in there. More fluid than usuall came out. Hoping he's just not ready, but just being optimistic. It may be dead. These 3 are 2 days early. Today is only day 19 for me. Wonder why they came early. The other 4 have not pipped yet

Hmmm...baby chick #3 seems to be doing something weird with its leg. One leg is pulled up near the body, while the other is extended out. Chick is only 2 hours old, still flopping around and drying out. The other 2 flopped around, but didn't seem to have legs doing two different things. Could this be serious? If so, what is it, and how do I help the chick?

@ asearcby79 - Day 19, I don't know what to say, mine that pipped at Day 19 and stopped progressing didn't make it

, then none of the other chickens even pipped until today, DAY 21. I'm sorry I can't be of anymore help just knowing what just happened to the leghorn, I'd say it probably doesn't looks good, but occasions like this, I LOVE being wrong. Good Luck, let me know what happens....

@ryleesmom - Hope it's OK, maybe it was just extra cramped and needs a good, LONG stretch. It amazes me that they fold up like that in there...

BTW, just had chick #10, my first Faverolle so that officially puts me at 50%, I promised I would be happy if I hit the 1/2 way mark, but now I have to up my goal I do believe! STILL NO TURKEY

I am on day 19 and all is quiet as a church in the hatcher. I try to listen to see if I can hear any peeps or tapping sounds. I stare at the eggs and imagine that I see them moving. lol I saw babies moving when I candled yesterday. I just so hope nothing goes wrong at the last minute. Now I don't dare to open the incubator to candle again. I have duct tape on it to keep me from being tempted to open the incubator. I guess I really just have no patience at all. Did not know that about myself.... lol

Here it is almost 3 AM and I've been staring at the incubator since 6:00 this evening. Sigh. The 1st one pipped right before 6:00 PM but still hasn't broken through the shell. It's not for lack of trying though. The little chip of shell is on the top and he can't seem to give it a good heave and push it off. Is 9 hrs of struggling with 1 tiny chip ok?
There's 2 others that pipped but then have done nothing.Tomorrow will be Day 22 and tomorrow's only a few hrs away. I really hope I didn't hurt them in my ignorance somehow.

Day 21. Yesterday there were a few more moving eggs - but no pips yet. Dreamed I had a bunch of eggs hatch in my closet and no chicks in them. Checked the bator and no moving around yet today. Praying for a few to pip out soon.

#2 doing much better but still has swollen bottom like some of it's insides are out. But looks better than last night. #3 still hasn't moved a bit. I think we lost him. #4 has pipped!
