So excited, I'm finding it hard to sleep!
Spent the entire day cleaning out the garage and setting up the brooder. I was a white tornado!
Now I'm worried that the garage will be too stuffy...I know that drafts are not good for them, but it seems so close in there! Best I can do is monitor the temperature and humidity and move them if they seem uncomfortable.
Unfortunate that the temperature has to be so high this week!
A little worried about the post office... Spoke to someone on Friday, and asked how they handle shipments of live chicks (which, I'm sure, are few and far between for this particular branch). She told me they'd "probably" have a carrier come out to the house to deliver the chicks on the morning they arrive. But to be sure, she gave me the number of the "carrier building", and warned me "they take a long time to answer the phone". Well, I wasn't able to get anyone to answer. Going to try again today...
Of course, I'm more than willing to run over and pick them up if they'd give me a call whenever they arrive. I'd prefer that to the possibilty that they'd be sitting in a hot truck while other stops are being made...
Can't imagine what it will feel like when I open the box...fingers crossed!
Hope to see pictures of everyone's babies!
