July 18th "Due Date"! Anyone else?

Even with the e-mail, I'm still dying here. I took a copy of my e-mail to the tiny little Raphine post office so they would have the tracking numbers, etc., and didn't leave there with a good feeling. The girl's eyes got as big as saucers when I told her I was getting 33 live chicks through her PO. She didn't know they could mail chicks! They only get a truck once a day, being so small, so I probably won't get my chicks tomorrow and they will sit in a hub somewhere over night.

I have my brooder set up and have moved it twice already. I know I won't be getting any sleep again tonight. This is as bad as waiting for a human baby to be born, except you don't have to trust the baby's life to the USPS.

What you do know is that if they say they were shipping today, then they shipped! That is what I like about MPC. They will call you if there is a problem. No guess work-your chicks are on their way!!!

How close is your distributing hub? In the past, mine were shipped on Monday and arrived at the distributing center later in the afternoon the next day. They called and I picked them up there. They came on the express truck.

I guess I may have 7/18 chicks.
Walked by the incubater today and it peeped at me...............

I am with you both. I also wish I could have a tracking number. I keep checking the temps in the states that they will (I think) be travelling through.

I keep checking the brooder temp and making sure with the fluctuation of the house air conditioner temperature that it remains constant.

When I called the P.O. today I had to repeat 3 times that in the box would be "BABY CHICKS - YOU KNOW BABY CHICKENS" I told the guy: "don't worry, you'll hear them". Then I said "even if they come in at 2 am, call me"; he replied: "oh we are not open at 2 am"

I just said, "well you know what I mean".

Sadly, my distributing hub has been moved to Richmond, VA, 130 miles east of me. The chickens are coming from west of me. That's one of the things worrying me. They very recently changed my hub from Charlottesville, 40 miles east of me, to Richmond. Our mail has been seriously delayed for the last few months.

I know how you feel. I was up at 5 this morning and ready to go by 5:30 just in case the P.O. calls this morning

. I feel like such a nervous Nellie. You're right Wildflower, this is as stressful as waiting for a baby to be born!

On a positive note: when I called the Waynesboro P.O. yesterday morning, the man I talked to was calm, understood what I was asking and told me he would be on the lookout and call me as soon as they arrive. So, I'm figuring once they get to Waynesboro they'll be okay.

Hope your delivery to Raphine goes smoothly.

I was up at 4 this morning and decided to just get out of bed and set up the feed and water in the brooder, monitor temperatures (a perfect 95 degrees below the Brinsea EcoGlow) and be ready in case the post office called/delivered early.
Still sitting here on pins and needles, wondering when they'll finally arrive!!
I hope my PO doesn't mess up! Saying my Hail Mary's and eating Tum's...
I even checked the MPC facebook page to make sure there wasn't a post for an emergency chick pick-up in my town.

The great thing about MPC is that, if for some reason, the chicks aren't picked up, they will announce on facebook that the chicks are available at PO XYZ for free. At least the chicks have half a chance of getting to someone who can care for them so that they survive!

May the Post Office Gods look favorably on all of us waiting for our little chicks and have them arrive quickly and safely!

Okay, this made me laugh. I was up early and I know there is no possible way that they will arrive any earlier than later this afternoon.

Just hoping our little babies are okay!

Hopefully by tomorrow, we should all be celebrating!
