July 2015 Hatch A Long HAL

I candles my eggs today. Saw one moving which was awesome since this is my first time incubating eggs. 2 just looked super dark. 2 had blood rings

I decided to,crack one open to see what was going on inside. I guess the little one stopped growing at a few days. It was very sad tho. Don't think I could do it again.i think the other one I. Just gonna double bag and put in the trash.
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully the one with movement makes it all the way and the dark ones too.

Day 18 update

Now, officially in lockdown mode. Made last turn and positioned all 35 eggs for final push into hatch. Tubes have been arranged so water can be pushed into lower reservoirs as needed for humidity control. Humidity is running low right now, but is slowly rising and target is 60%.

Wohoo!!! all the best. That's a good target for humidity..

I had an egg ... seep? Is that what you call it? It didn't explode, but eggy stuff was just weeping out of it.

The smell. You guys ... the smell.

Also, major power outage this morning, most of the town was affected. Not sure how that is going to play out with the eggs. I kept them as warm as I could, temp didn't drop too bad, but still it was a drop. For quite some time.

Question: I have a PPR egg that had a super tiny crack at the air sac end. I did not repair it. It has developed normally for the past 10-11 days. I just candled it because it is one of the two that I'm most worried will be a problem. The embryo wasn't moving, but no blood ring either. No weeping. No smell. What would you do? Fix crack @ this point? Wait and see? Take it out to be safe from explosion? Right now I have it sort of separated, as in it is in a coffee filter nest away from the other eggs.

Ah it is called weeping, I see. The egg that I had weeping on me was a very porous egg from the beginning, but it did have growth. It lasted until Day 12, did just fine. We even turned it that morning & it was still ok. But then BAM seeping, weeping, whatever stinky mess.

My living room still smells funny.

So I don't know what to advise you to do, but there is definitely a chance of a mess.

They should be just fine. Call it a "cool down" session... some incubators (and hens) do that deliberately!

My Silkies are hatching... no one is totally out yet but I can see a couple of light colored ones and looks some dark ones : ) I've been watching, but I need to go to bed.
Exciting stuff. Yes, can only imagine how sleep deprived we're going to be once we see pips moving eggs. The urge to open the incubator and move chicks must be incredible. Committed to total lockdown until we call time on the hatch.

Seeing pips and going to bed must be like waking to Christmas as a kid the next day.
