***JULY HATCH-A-LONG come join in***

I am thinking of locking all mine down tomorrow as they are due 9 and 10th!
So I will ahve an empty incubator and turner, long enough to clean them and set the next batch of eggs!

How do I lock down a hen?

When my four hens went broody, they were on the floor in my miniature horse's stall. I moved them to 3-high stacking cages in my rabbitry. Some of the eggs these girls are sitting on are bantam breeds, and I have had bantams hatch in as few as 19 days. Every time I pass the "hen towers," I pause to listen. No cheeps yet!

I had three more hatch today, giving me five chicks - I think there are still seven eggs under my red silkie bantam. Expecting more tomorrow? Hopefully!

We have our new babies!!! Well, some of them anyway! LOL... I will take pictures when I can. Our mama Welsummer is so very good with her 5 baby chicks. EE roo over an EE, a BA, and BO hens.

YAY... Love them!!! And my BO broody is setting on a mess of eggs, most of which do indeed have movement in them!! YAY!!!

Question, my welsummer got off the nest and didn't sit tight until the rest hatched, they were all pretty close, maybe another day or two, so they got chilled/cold for the past 24 hours, guessing they're dead, eh? Any hope if I tuck them under the other broody mama they could still hatch?
