***JULY HATCH-A-LONG come join in***

Super! Hope your other two pips hatch shortly!

Candled my porcelain d'Uccle eggs... only 3 of the 11 made it to lockdown, and those look iffy. *sigh* Oh well, the PO had them two days longer than they should have. Of the 8 eggtopsies, one had made it to about day 14, another to around day 10 or so, and one to about day 7. The rest were liquidized, no blood rings tho. Wish me luck that my three remaining eggs hatch!

Thanks, Ked! So update me, are all your current eggs due next month? Can't wait to see the little peachick fan her feathers!
This afternoon I have 3 more pips and a hatchling in the 'bator.

@ Sweet: yep, all mine are due next month.... and it's possible I will have to set up a extra incubator to cope with incoming eggs if my trade comes in soon. I expected a few from each batch of shipped eggs to not start, and expecte 1-2 extras tops for the ones I ordered.... instead, someone sent SIX extras (silkies), Two extras (BCM), and one extra (peacock)!!! So the 8-10 spaces I should have had open (for some amazing golden lakenvelders)... are now taken up by extras! The peacocks I won't be able to tell for probably another week, and the BCMs I just added.... but of the EIGHTEEN silkies, I saw development in 16 of them... and the two that aren't were 'project' eggs so I didn't have high hopes for them to begin with

I don't know what I will do if they all hatch together! The last time I ordered eggs, the shipment was flat out halved at the start due to shipping destroying the innards of half the eggs.... this time the PO must have treated the boxes like crystal.

From what I read, it's about time! So happy you have an abundance of eggs. Had to Google the golden lakenvelders, they are gorgeous! Hopefully you get some room to hatch them out. Are those eggs a done deal or are you still waiting?

If nothing else it would be nice to have a second bator as a hatcher. (Sorry, if that comes across as enabling your habit.

They are not here, and as far as I know, they are not on their way yet, but they WILL be. I called them on the egg chain and she said her birds had slowed down laying, which is fine! I can wait for them

SweetMotherofMars - I have no idea where Ruby Beach is! I'm going to have to look it up. Your chicks are adorable...and it sounds like you have quite the project undertaking! My little mutts just keep producing more muttly little mutts.

I'm anxious to get home and check the eggs under BLRW mama. I think today would be Day 22-ish for the ones I thought were behind in development. Should I leave them another day or 2, or pull them and stop the insanity?

Mama the EE had all 4 chickies out with her this a.m. She got all freaked out when I walked up to say hi, but changed her mind when I threw 2 little red mini bell peppers in for her, and called all the babies over to peck at the strange red food objects.

I think my hatch is finishing up. I have 17 chicks total, including the double-wide, who I had to help a little. It still isn't walking, but I'm letting it rest.
This hatch included 11 supermarket eggs (9 hatched), and 12 eggs from a local farm (8 hatched).
Here are some pics!

Some of the supermarket chicks are spotted? They are simply supposed to be RIR/white leghorn cross.

Oh, golly...well, perhaps I did the wrong thing, but I pulled the remaining 5 eggs (BLRW laid another one, the stinker!) out of the nest. There was at least 1 I thought should have hatched by now, one I thought was empty, and a couple I thought were at Day 14, maybe, when I candled all at Day 19.

I brought them in and did the plastic bag eggtopsies. One was dead...ewww! One was fairly new, with a developing embryo - that would be the one BLRW laid. Two had pretty well-formed chicks in them. I'm a little worried I may have killed them during the eggtopsies, but in reality, they should have hatched no later than Friday/Saturday (would have been Day 23/24 for the originals). Looking at Kedreeva's eggtopsy post, I think 1 died right around Day 18/19 (hope not when I candled!), and the other earlier, although it hadn't started to rot.

I removed the old shavings from the nest box and replaced with fresh, put Mama EE and the 4 chickies in there, and moved BLRW back to the main coop. She wasn't too happy. Given she's still laying eggs, though (and I saw another earlier this evening that I couldn't find tonight, so think Mama ate it), I don't think she's really 100% broody anyway. If she keeps up her behavior I'll put her in isolation to try and break her of it.

I so wish I could post photos...that little black (BLRW cross?) chick with the rusty hood is so darn cute! I also have a yellow and two darker yellow/orangy babes. The two oldest, hatched Wednesday and Thursday a.m. of last week, already have little wing feathers starting. SWEET!
