I was checking over the incubator section last night and found a really neat plan by Miss Prissy for making an inexpensive incubator from a styrofoam cooler or box. It might be just the thing you need.

I go into lcokdown tomorrow at noon with my first hatch ever. YAY

I just set 40 more eggs into the bator 2 days ago and I'm off and running again! Yay

I will be setting the following eggs within the next wee:

10 Olive Eggers
18 Easter Eggers
12 Chukar

All my eggs were received via mail order. Having 50% of these eggs hatch will be technically a 100% hatch rate. I'm shooting for at least 150%

I am still waiting on the extra incubators to arrive so I can have the three species seperated...

I will be candling tonight as lockdown on my 12 eggs starts early in the morning!

She flew over to the fence row ...chirping trash about me -- even after her hubby showed up.

That is one of the funniest things I think I have ever read...

Hello! I've been lurking here at BYC for almost a year. I sincerely want to thank you guys for such a wonderful forum and source of information. This incubating thread in particular gave me the courage to order fertilized eggs to start my first flock.

I have 18 Welsummer eggs from Whitmore farms in my incubator due to hatch July 1 - tomorrow. I'm really hoping that someone is online because I need a little bit of reassurance. I have an early bird, we'll call him Spike. I watched him pip and zip and it was awesome! He was just born 10 minutes ago. He's my first chicken ever. He's cute as a button. My concern is, he seems angry as all get out. He's screaming his head off in the 'bator behind me and he's kicking all the other eggs around. I know I'm not supposed to open the incubator and that I need to just leave him in there.

Could someone please tell me this in normal? *help*

Yep totally normal.....
he is angry that he is alone, and no one has joined him yet....He is really just encouraging the others along....
