LOL Mixed blessing? I love all the b/b/s eggs you have set. I'm hoping to get a line going in my EEs, but the only black male I have has red bleeding through. *sigh* I have 3 eggs each from my two solid black blue egg layers, 6 total from my blue hens, and 3 from my splash... hopefully one of them will give me a splash or black male.
@Ked - Yes! They are California quail! The eggs' coloring, their plumage, and his song all fit -- she's a valley girl!
She's super mad at me, though. So funny that he escorted her back to the nest and sat there aggravating the one roo.
I'm not sure about MI, but when I lived in IL we only had Bobwhites. Really, $20 -$30 a bird?! *sigh* (Stifles a cough.)
Thanks, SportChick! I've loved watching them parading around. Can't wait for the striped pompoms to start following them around.
Urban, those are gorgeous eggs! What is the speckled one on the lower left?
