July Hatch-a-Long

I have 6 turkey eggs due on the 3rd and another 16 due on the 8th....I am hopeful.
The last hatch I ended up with 1 turkey out of 6 eggs that went into lock down..... but that's one more than I had!
I about had heart failure today I walked down to check on my incubator's and my good one was unplugged! I had 24 assorted turkey and duck eggs in there as well as 48 quail eggs for a friend.... I was scared to death they were goners. But I plugged it back in and when I candled I only found 1 egg I was sure was dead, whew I may have dodged a bullet, I will keep a close eye on them as we could still have late quitters but I am glad there is hope!

I have two Broody ducks sitting on a shared nest of 10ish eggs. I have no idea how many exactly because I haven't been able to get closer than 4 feet since they started sitting. In theory they should be hatching on Saturday.

Fingers crossed that I have ducklings.

Yay! I have 6 random eggs (mostly EEs from a friend) and 5 shipped silkie eggs (shipped) under 3 tiny broody serama chickens.

Set on 6/29 and 6/30. Two of my hens always brood together and are bossy and move the tinier serama off her eggs often... which puts the tiny serama on more eggs. So. We will see if this works. I’ll have to keep moving these ladies around. They are broody about 70% of the year, so I’m not worried they will give up with all my moving.

Hopeful hatching on the 20th/21st! A quick check of 5 of the eggs shows good air pockets.

Day7 candle shows 6/10 growing well. Hoping they aren’t all roosters!
I don’t think the two chocolate orpingtons are growing which is too bad!

I just had to cull 7 eggs today on my partial day ten candle. I am going to do a candle on my Welshes later tonight to see how they fared with the power outage.

I didn’t see a Hatch-a-Long for July so i figured I would make one.

I set 32 eggs last night in my homemade incubator. Their hatch date is seeming to dally on the froth of July.

Update to my Hatching log. I am on day ten of my hatching and I am down to 13 eggs out of the 33 I set. It doesn't appear that the ones I thought I was going to loose on my Welshes are out of the running yet. They had movement tonight so all good so far. Fingers crossed that they will all make it to Saturday for my 14 day candling!
