July Hatch-a-long

keep us informed I want to hear the details...so we can learn! I have some lavender orps suppose to hatch on Sunday...the have strange air cells that almost look fluid...but if I get it just right I can see veins and I have seen movement but now it's so close its hard...one for sure moved for me! I'll be happy to have 1 but disappointed if that's it! these are shipped I'm hoping that's what's causing the strange view!

I'm pulling for your babies

11 hatched (2 in the brooder) 4 pipped, nothing on the other 3... I hope more of my "not-quite-olive-eggers" hatch, so far just one.

400

I had to open the incubator AGAIN to put 3 more chicks in the brooder. I put way to many eggs in here & honestly I thought I wouldn't hatch out this many. I'll probably have to open up a 4th time in about 5 hours to make more room. I've read somewhere 12hrs minimum after hatch. The 5 in the brooder are doing great so far.

Polish are gorgeous, sweet, funny, and enjoyable. They are not good broody hens since they rarely go broody. They have other things to do, so they let the Silkies and Cochins sit on their eggs

Nice job! Thanks for the pic! I've seen folks put eggs on top eggs in an incubator. Is that what you mean by too many? Every hatch seems to come out different. My best hatch was my first, with an LG still air & it was staggered to boot! Quite challenging. My next 2 hatches got steadily worse. At least I know what went wrong & should be better for next time.

Oh that is way too many! I covered the floor with eggs & the babies didn't have anywhere to go. Wow I had no idea how crazy people are about chickens until this thread (including me!) lol
