July Hatch-a-long

My last hatch one took over 30 hours. I do keep a check though if their still alive after so many hours just to be sure. I know some do nothing after pip, I haven't had that happen yet. I know those hatching guide 101 or w e they call it really has good info also one on assisting if absolute. They really helped me.

are they all hers? she'll stop laying when she finishes "gathering her clutch" I've read other say their silkies sitting on 20 eggs...of course they were from several birds....but she hatched them

`there not heres she laid 6 eggs in 6 days and went broody she stoped laying for a day she wouldnt be able to sit on 20 eggs maye bantam or quil or peasants she has got 9 eggs and lays another a day i keep removing it becouse the other eggs wont fit and one would be sticking out and get cold and die

My internet crapped out yesterday. Arrggh! So I managed to get 3 good eggs under my first broody. Yay! Now she just needs to hold on until Monday. All 18 eggs are due to hatch then. Can't wait to see this new batch! I sure hope the new moms do ok. At least they have their mom joining in, that should help!

Oh that is a bummer!!! I have 5 Sam Favs that just hatched last friday. I got them from Fancie Favie. Saw she has another auction up... If interested...

Thank you. I'd love to, but I'm not sure my fiancé can take one more generation of chicks in the house. We've had quite the year...

I will save it, however, and try again come springtime. I may get hatching eggs and chicks and we'll see how many I can get to her!

Just TRY to stop me!!

Anyway, saw lots of happiness yet lots of sadness going on.. I can totally relate! Whomever said the highs are better than the lows said it just right. the highs do out weigh the lows and that's why in the middle of July the August hatch-a-long is going strong!

I give credit to Shellz, she said it's because of the highs that we keep doing what we do
