July Hatch-a-long

JellyBelly, I've been following your story on the Missouri thread...Grrr, that those "people" made it easier for the coon. We spend all our time and money trying to keep our birds safe then the human predator did what they did, allowing a coon to get an easy meal. I hope you get a lot hatching. Wish there was more I could do to help.

I went to Dick's Sporting goods with hubby and I bought a brighter light for only $10. According to my research, my DH's mag light put out 14 lums, while my 9 led light put out 19lums. This new one is supposed to put out 50 lums. I wasn't going to candle again but I had to try it out. I could see veins in all, one might be a quitter (black "body" about the size of a pencil erasure while all the others are farther along). I was actually able to see movement in 3 of the d'uccle eggs. Lock down is suppose to be Monday

I was blown away by that baby rolling out of the shell. I am 67 and had never seen a chick hatch. To be a part of that whole event was humbling
HI, I did not get really into the hobby until after retirement............had I known how good it is, I think I would have retired sooner...................

Every evening my DH and I can be found sitting outside watching the chickens. They never fail to entertain us.........

Sooooo... Since its July and I just found this thread... BYC, meet "Ava"! Pipped this morning at 6:30ish, out and hollering for snuggles by 6pm! She's a Silkie, the only of 4 eggs that hatched, but worth the $20 I paid for them ;)
Idk if "she" is a she or not, guess I'll find out if she crows, LOL!
