What is a good way to open eggs? last time I had an egg that I had given up on, I took the egg and whacked it on the table like a chef and it cheeped at me. Just in case there's good chicks in these eggs, what's a better way to open them?
Yes, cute!WARNING: extremely cute
The other thing is these were eggs from hens that were wormed recently... They should have been tossed but I decided I would try and incubate instead.

So what wrong with hatching de-wormed eggs? The eggs would have been thrown out anyway so why not try hatching? What do you have to lose? IMO, you got two chicks (splay leg isn't a worming issue) so you can sell, or grow these chicks. At least you got more than one since I've heard single chicks are more "needy" and lonely.
Quote: Congrats DragonSadhana on your hatchling.
I'm a first time hatcher too so don't take my advice (it's more of an observation I've seen)...I've pulled my chicks out after 8 hours because they just don't seem to be getting dried off. I've assumed that because I'm hatching at 79-80%* humidity, they aren't able to dry off and fluff up. I moved these little ones to the brooder and they manage to fluff up pretty quickly.

Edited: 70-80% humidity (not 79) if it gets to 60 and I add more water or soak the papertowel
