July Hatch-A-Long

Day 26... Oh the waiting..... I don't have any internal pips yet but close I think. I am trying to get some projects done to keep myself distracted. There should be some action tomorrow right?... some movement, some peeping... something....anything!? : )

Funny little Racoon face. Just hatched this afternoon, a lot more pips.

Came from a tiny white egg. Was told it was a Polish mix. Thinking it looks more like a bantam cochin mix.

I just stumbled across this thread. I am on day 14 & 12 with my hatch. I have 11 shipped Buckeye eggs that are on day 14, they were pretty roughed up in shipping so I am not sure any will hatch. Also have 3 Buff Orpington eggs that are on day 12, I got those from a neighbor who had recently lost her roo and we are hoping that the eggs were still fertile. I candled today and it didn't look very promising. Wish me luck!

Check this out...pretty bad alright from someone that did more than toss that package, but I got three babies out of it!

I had 6 that weren't broken..yes, I washed them, and thought oh well, will try. Three made it. The box did NOT have on dent in it..so what does that say? Someone had to have shaken that box.

Good luck..do you have Buckeyes, or have had them. I've been looking at them off and on. I like a good layer. Are they supposed to be good layers throughout hot summers and cold winters? :)

Hi Cynthia,

This is my second batch of shipped eggs I am attempting to hatch this year. The first batch had 0 of 13 hatch, but I had also incubated 2 locally acquired eggs with them, both of them did hatch. The box with the first batch of eggs looked as though the PO played kick ball with it, none of the eggs were broken, but all turned out to be internally scrambled. Here is the first box, they were Cream Brabanter eggs.

The second box wasn't badly damaged, but had 1 broken egg, 5 others saturated with the contents of the broken one and 8, of the 11 intact eggs have ruptured air cells.

The second batch

These are Buckeye eggs, I am keeping my fingers crossed that something will hatch.

No I don't have Buckeyes yet, it seems they are nearly impossible to get. I have been trying to get some since January and this carton of eggs is as close as I have gotten. Even Ideal Hatchery bailed on me after I had a dozen Buckeyes waitlisted for months. Currently I only have 2 Buff Orpingtons that hatched with the first batch of shipped eggs
