July Hatch-A-Long

Mine are blue ,I bought them from someone I have had them a couple of years. Just old enough to lay ,I can't see in mine either, I just know I see some veins & a airsac

Very cool ! I might try getting a super bright LED flashlight so I can see more, since I have a few that are questionable. Good luck with yours : )

Hi everyone! I just put eggs in my incubator this morning. I set 12 blue laced red wyandotte eggs and 6 eggs from a silver ameraucana rooster over welsummer hens. There's still room in my incubator, so I'll probably ask around and see if I can find some more fertile eggs to add in the next day or two.

I'm having problems with my egg turner :( I had the incubator set up for a while before setting eggs, on Sat, but yesterday I suspected it wasn't turning them. I turned them by hand last night, and then gave it until this morning to see if it had moved, but it was in the exact same position again. I took it out, tested it on the counter without eggs and it worked fine. Then I added about a dozen refrigerated eggs and watched it again for a while...still working. I just put it back in the incubator and loaded it up again...crossing fingers that it will work.
So my eggs may have gone the first 48 hours without turning...how much will this mess them up?

Don't worry too much about it. I have read where people haven't turned their eggs at all and still had them hatch normally. I wouldn't recommend that.. but I'm pretty sure your eggs will be just fine.

Well, I started with 20 pekin eggs and now I have 1. We had a birthday party at the house this weekend and the kids went into the basement. I didn't think anything of it until I went to fill the water channel in my incubator. One of the eggs was crushed like someone had dropped it on something.

The worse part is, it was developing, I could see the veins in it.

Aw, that's heartbreaking. :(

I was so upset but there is nothing I can do now. The damage is done but on the bright side there are 19 more in the incubator.
