July Hatch-A-Long

When I put my Dominique eggs in I couldn't get my temp back up steady. I had to slip them into the incubator with the duck eggs. Now everyone is holding steady here at the end of day one. I'll probably just leave them in there until it's time for chicken lockdown. I now have 2 weeks to get the other incubator ready to hatch them! :barnie

Alright! Had 3 hatch this evening under my broody. 2 more are zipped and the other 6 still no external pips...But that being said, I did stagger the hatch by one day because I wasn't 100% on my Wyandotte being committed at the time. I'm looking forward to more tomorrow! It will be a long night! I may have to go out and check on them throughout the night. Coincidentally, it was definitely a Wyandotte baby to hatch first! The comb is a dead giveaway!

This requires pictures! :)

I thought the whole point of the broody hatch was that we can sleep while they take care of things?! I just checked my broody and at least one Serama chick has hatched. I can hear it and I managed to see enough to find and remove an empty shell but have not seen my very first home born chick yet! I am tired enough to wait for morning and hoping to see lots o' tiny fuzzy babies. Hope the rest of yours come along soon!

Ah! I know ! But I'm trying to keep track of who's coming from what eggs since I have a mixed barnyard bunch. This is only my second time with a broody and all in the same month so the excitement is still there! The crazy colors I got in the last batch have been making it extra difficult to find out who's who! It's like a chicken edition of the Maury show!

I HAVE AN INTERNAL PIP!

The other two eggs are still eerily quiet, but the third egg has pipped internally and is peeping!

Ahhh, I'm over 1/2 through, this time temps have been holding a lot better than June, until last night when it cooled down 5-10 degrees in the house, and the thermometer was reading 95 this morning. (we had the furnace running last night even)

The probe had gotten tucked under one of the eggs in the last turn yesterday, so I'm not sure how that affected it, and I still have 10 days left. I have 3 silkie eggs left in there, and it's driving me batty, because I will not be able to get pure silkies again this year, as I don't have a silkie roo, but these eggs were laid before my roos got at the girls, there was for sure life in 2, and one looked iffy.
