I have 13 quail still left in the bator and some mystery chicken eggs due about the 10th....

Yeah, So glad you had such a great hatch. Look at those cuties. Let me know how the chicken eggs do when they hatch. They should be pretty easy to guess what they are.

Awww...... they are cute! Try taping a small piece of stiff plastic (credit card?

) to the curled foot-it may straighten out!
I had 6 eggs from Soggy Bottom make it to lockdown, but none of them hatched.

I am not sure what happened. I opened 2 of them and they were fully formed but the yolk wasn't even absorbed. The two that I opened both looked like Naked Necks. Is that what they all were? I still have 2 from Mr. Heinz set to go into lockdown tomorrow.

so far two have hatched. I'm assuming quail since they match the pics of the eggs and chick posted above.
My question, Umm.... how do I care for them? I didn't expect any to hatch since they sat for a few days before I could incubate them. Had to figure out how to get them to fit my turner too lol!
Do they eat the same thing as chickens? Etc..?
Thanks!

Game bird feed, quail watererer. Separate from chickens. Double in size every week, lay eggs at 6 weeks! Oh, and they start flying pretty early so you need a top on the brooder;-)

Holy cow! 6 weeks???

what type is it? Button?. Coturnix? Or something else?
I didn't realize they had to be separate from chickens...

I don't have enough pens as it is!

how big do they get?
Oh hey! Does anyone know what their weight is at hatch?
My husband sent that pic to his business partner ....
DH said if it weren't for the feel of it moving across his hand he wouldn't have noticed it all it is sooo tiny!

Those look like Coturnix. Mine are about the size of a mourning dove without the long tail, but they are not full grown. I don't know about weight, but they would fit on a teaspoon when they hatch. How have you been, I haven't seen you on much lately:) Deb
