Jumbo Cornish X vs. Freedom Rangers

Ya that's not bad at all. I don't count housing anyways that's something that is broken down over so many years I consider it negligible

Has anyone ever tried raising Cornish X in the same pastured poultry setup with Rangers? I am in year one with meat birds and built one Salatin-style pen. I'm basically torn over which breed to choose and thought about half and half. Aside from the different chick to butcher time frames and energy levels, I just didn't know if they would co-habitate well or if I would be setting myself up for failure. Any experiences / advice is much appreciated.

We raised both type of birds separately last summer and the Cornish X were the better bird. Faster growing and less food required. Although you will have to hold the food for 12 hours so that they don't over eat which leads to premature heart attacks. As for the Freedom Rangers, we thought they went through a lot more food and took forever to get up to the slaughter weight we were looking for. We decided that we wouldn't do the Rangers again, sticking with the Cornish.
