I Bought 5 Jumbo Coturnix Quail yesterday 1 male and 4 female and today there was an egg in there tank. Will these eggs they lay be fertile and if not when will there breeding season be. If I put a light on them will the egg they lay be fertile if the male does his part. Right now they are in a fish tank inside the house and that it where they will stay, but I can fit 2k quail eggs in the incubator at a time so if I can hatch them I will.

I also need some suggestions on what to feed them.

I have no experience, what so ever, with quail and any help would be greatly appreciated.

The egg should be fertile. You will want to collect it and some others to start all at once. I am now collecting for 10 days before setting. They will ignore it, the broodiness has been bred out of them. Really fun to hatch!!!!

Update
I got two more eggs to day. I also bought some Scoot's Quality Quail feed. I didn't think they would lay that good after just being moved. I hope they keep it up. I am looking for some good hatching trays but don't know which one is the best. I would like plastic ones if anybody knows of a good supplier please let me know.

I will have pic. soon.
