In the coturnix quail, what is considered to be jumbo? What weight seperates the jumbo from the original??

I am curious too but I have a feeling this one will have many expert opinions lol

If anyone has a picture of a jumbo next to a standard size quail that would be awesome

Some of the info I've come across..

Reg. Coturnix~ 3- 5 1/2 ounces.
Jumbo whites ~ 8 ounces average
Jumbo Browns ~ 12-14 ounces average.

I need to get mine on a scale, I'm curious ! LOL!

Many have their own preference for what they consider Jumbo. Critter you are on the right track though!

Hi Quaillady,
Thanks...
True, it will be a matter of preference because there really is no standards for them.

I just weighed 2 of my hens.

These are birds I got from Craigslist as chicks, over the summer and I have no Idea of their background.
One weighed 10.3 oz and the other was 10.7 oz on a digital postal scale.

10 ounces is great for hens! Now get a big rooster and get the party started!

I'm pleased with them! I get real nice eggs from them! I didn't have time to weigh a roo, I may later .

As far as the big Roo, I'm waiting for yours from the last hatch to finish growing!
