Yes muscovies are also large birds, but they're wild as is, so their frames/ legs/ wings can handle their size easily.

There is a difference between actual wild muscovy and domesticated muscovy (feral muscovy fall into the domesticated category). Have you seen a muscovy drake up close? They are built like a tank truck. Domesticated drakes cannot fly once they reach a certain weight. They can have leg issues as well, but if taken care of properly, they will live a long life. Pekin ducks in general are prone to leg issues. They are a breed that is used as meat right alongside muscovy. Most people love to have pekins as pets. If fed properly (not overfed), they also can have a good life. It's like the differences in breeds of dogs some are just bred to live longer than others.

Kinda, I'm just saying overall muscovies are hardier than jumbo pekins.
There are no dog breeds that were bred to put on weight as fast as possible for meat production.

Jumbo pekins are kindof the cornish crosses of the duck world, they're not meant to live long lives.. but good luck!
If he doesn't improve soon though, it'd be time to think what'd be better, a life of misery unable to walk, or a swift and merciful end.

I understand although i do really hope it dosent come to that! Im definitly going to give this b complex a go its 100ml at 1ml a day so im praying that i will see improvments even if its just a little by the time thoes 100 days go by, as of right now he still gets around but he likes to spend most time in the pool and when hes following the other ducks around he'll sit down and forage in one spot while still staying close to them and thank you for the comment about the muscovy as well!! Maybe having his own little girlfriend will help with a speedy recovery sweet pea will float around with him but remains faithful to AJ (our other peking)

I have Muscovy and they make wonderful pets. Some like to eat them too. But I could never eat mine they are just too precious. My Muscovy drakes weights around 12lbs so probably not too far off of a Jumbo Pekin and his female Muscovy are anywhere from 4-5lb each they are tough ladies. lol
So sweet of you to take her in and give her a home.
I'd clip one of her wings to keep her home though. That maybe why she was hanging around at a person's home who didn't know her she could have been someone's pet and she flew, they do love to fly and can get lost easily that is how they end up in lakes ponds and other bodies of water. I only clip one wing on my girls each fall after their big molt. I can give you a diagram on how to do it if you want.
Most will say Muscovy need their own kind to be happy but I have one females Muscovy who I gave Runner /Buff eggs to back in 2016 and since she hatched those ducklings she has been part of their flock. I guess she must be able to communicate pretty well to be with them this long.

I will clip one of her wings today and if you woudnt mind sending that diagram i would definitly apprciate it although ill probaby still watch a youtube video just to be sure i dont hurt her i assume its like cutting a parrots/indoor birds flight feathers or?! She is literally the bggest people person out of my whole flock just wants to sit on you until you have to get up i LOVE it!!! And thats awesome yours been so ready to hatch none of my chickens are broody (im assuming just cause this is our colder season) and my female runner hasnt started laying eggs at all that i have seen at least i got her about 2-3 days before i got my chicks so i figured shed be laying by now? But ive also read that they may not lay during the cold season as all!

Noted and also noted! And about not over feeding them i normally just leave their food container in their coop with a constant supply of food and they just kind of eat when they want to do you think i should change the way i do that?!

It could be he just doesn't know how to be a pet duck. He hasn't been taken care of and he's not used to treats or foods. Ducks are always leery of new things.
As far as treats go all ducks should be limited to 1 tablespoon per day whether corn, tomatoes, mealworms, or a mixture. It all adds up to 1 tbls or they might not eat their regular feed.

This is also good to know i normally just feed them tomatoes or some of whatever the chickens table scraps are but i will start watchinc closer on the amount that im giving them!!

This is our boy d's legs at this moment like i said he still gets around but hes slower and much more clumsily as well :/ the b complex stuff should be here in the next day or so i will start him asap! Just some before pictures to compare to afterwards!!!

I think he has a good chance of getting more strength into his legs and the B complex will help. Water therapy is another way to build up those leg muscles. Just make sure he can get in and out of the pool safely.

None of my Runners or Buffs or Muscovy are laying only my hens that were hatched this past summer are. Thank goodness I had to take the walk of shame last year and buy eggs from the grocery store.
