My quail is trying to get out of the egg since 10am this morning, it made progress but near 12pm this afternoon it seemed like the beak was stuck outside the shell and it’s unable to go back in and continue to zip. I want to give it time but how much longer can it stay like that before dying? Also, a small part of the membrane seems a bit discolored, like yellowish..

What is the thing when the quail chick is still absorbing the yolk? Do you think it may be still absorbing? I looked online everywhere about the beak not being able to go back into the shell to continue zipping but no results.. is this problem rare?

Once they start zipping quail are usually pretty fast getting out. My guess is that it needs assistance.

The outside temp doesn't have to be perfect. just put the quail back in the incubator after assisting. Zip for him. at this point he's probably too weak to do it himself. slowly chip away the shell and then begin peeling the membrane slowly.
