Jumbo's Crowing

Do only the males crow? I thought I had separated the males from the females based on speckled fronts and plain fronts. Working on a new pen and I noticed two in the female side crowing.

Yes only males crow. Don't breed males if they have ambiguous plumage with regards to gender markings. The boys should look like boys. You don't want to breed more males that are difficult to tell at a glance that they indeed are males. Same with the hens. They should be well speckled and not have just a few rows of spots.

I've heard that female would crow also. I can't remember ever having one tho. I've seen circle hens crow. I have had some late to color after pulling out most of the roos. They get culled.
