Actually my chickens are due to arrive the week of April 24th. 2 Barred Rock, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 1 RIR, 1 Easter egger and one Buckeye. We live up against the Lake Huron National Forest.

Hello from Kansas, forestflock, and welcome to BYC! First chickens are always so exciting! If this is your first go round with chickens you might want to check out the Learning Center - it is loaded with informative articles: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread
And if you want to chat with some local poultry folks you can find your state thread in the link below:

Good luck and thanks for joining BYC!

Welcome!

As you have already received links to some great starting points, I will just wish you all the best and your flock when they arrive.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Thank you all for your kind welcome! I have studied and studied. The time is almost here. I plan to be waiting in the postoffice parking lot, so when they call I can rush right in for my box of chicks and hurry them straight home! forestflock

You have a coop ready ?

Boy, I had forgotten the sound of chicks in the post office.
Our post lady is scared of biddies. She wanted those boxes
picked up.

Funny memory.

Welcome to the game, and we're help to help if you need us.

Spook
