JUNE 1st Hatch: Were locked and hatching!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

My chickies are due June 4. Two bantam cochins from my own birds (mom is a white frizzle and dad either black or partridge) and 12 white bantam ameraucanas, 5 red brown bantam ameraucanas, and 12 silver blue bantam ameraucanas. The ameraucanas were shipped from Jerry Segler. I put 10 eggs under a broody hen and the rest are in my homemade incubator. This is all so nerve wracking!

lol. This is the first time I've used an incubator and I'm obsessing about every little detail. It's gonna be a LOOOONNGG 21 days!

Did ok at the sell got what i wanted for the chicks. But spent more then the wife wanted me to. I got 5 peacock eggs, 6 duck eggs 2 doz Americana 1 doz welsummer

Well you know in the US you have a place called NEW JERSEY?
I live in the OLD one - A tiny island (9 x 5 miles) in the middle of the English Channel.
It is famous for cows and is where Gerald Durrell's zoo is

As for candeling...No I've never done it before. Have done the research and seen all the fab photography, but would still like someone to hold my hand the first time

In the meantime, Hermione is sitting good and tight. I am getting her off the nest twice a day for food/ drink/ poop purposes. I have to say she is just soooo cute when she gets back on the nest and fluffs up he bloomers and tucks all the babies in safely

I guess you don't get all that if you use an incubator? On the other hand, I am quite likely to be surprised by the chickies when they finally burst into the world

I have a Barred Rock hen that just went broody the other day on a clutch of 11 BRxEE eggs and 1 black tailed jap bantam egg. (Someone was sneaky) 21st day will be June 4th.

This is my first broody and first hatch ever!

Here is my BR and EE. I will get a picture of the little she-devil on the nest a little later.
