June 2020 Hatch Raise along

Thought I’d jump in with my chicks! They hatched out June 3rd. There’s 9 Ameraucanas that I hatched and 12 Australorps that I got from a breeder. I’m really loving my setup with the mama heating pad. Everyone is happy and content and they settle right down once it gets dark. Once they get bigger I have a mesh top to put on and I can open it up too to give them some more space. Right now they’re in just the 4’x4’ side. Makes the daily bum checks easier when I can separate them!

Loving all the other chick photos, keep them coming!

Nice looking setup! I'm doing the heating pad mama as well:)

I just found this thread and I'm so excited to see all our chicks grow up!
We got ours on June 7th, hopefully all girls! They'll be 2 weeks old tomorrow & are growing so fast! So, introductions:

There's Blondie, the EE / possible Buff Orpington mix, the first to spot anything new

Cleo, the Welsummer girl (the bully of the flock)

Coo, the explorer EE

Darling, the Lavender Orpington runt of the group (she's so little, but so sweet & snuggly!)

Sue / General Tsu (named by my crazy husband LOL), the Faverolle mix / possible EE? - she has the Faverolle extra toe

And Kali, the "I will not sit still for photos" Black Star girl - the biggest of the group so far

I love how they each have their own personalities & place in the flock. <3

Love your story! I'm afraid I don't have much analysis of my flock's personality. I have one that I helped hatch that seems to like me and a runt welsummer that has almost died on me. Most of them are about a week and a half and some of them are starting to use the roost! Its so cute:love

Ours have really started developing personalities in the last week, so you might start seeing it soon. Or maybe my girls are just extreme. 😆
Ours are in a big container inside our bathroom. I still need to get them something to roost on in there, I think they'd love it! Though we're finally getting 80+F temps here, so we may move them outside soon.

Mine are outside now so I don't spend as much time observing. That and there's 42 of them...:p
I put small holes in the container I have in the house and put a stick through it. They seem to really like it even real young.

I'm not thinking socially these days and just realized I am a part of the hatch and grow along. I just put 6 araucana eggs into lockdown. I am so excited I want to squee! Yeah it's a made up word but described my feelings so well. :ya
I started out with 12 shipped eggs. At 4 days I had 3 undeveloped and 1 ring of fire. So a 75% fertility rate, I'm counting the ring of fire as fertile. At 10 days I had one that had quite growing, so that put me at 7 eggs. I put one under a broody that I gave a bantam egg to so it won't be an only chick. If all goes well and all 7 hatch, I'll have a 77% hatch rate. Not to shabby for a first timer. Yeah yeah, yeah I'm counting my chickens before my eggs hatch.:jumpy

Hello everyone, I forgot about this thread! Anyway a couple of days ago I got these sweeties in the mail.

First this is Agnes the black Cochin, she likes to sleep on feet and shoulders and peck eyes.

Next is Sugar my Salmon Faverolle, she was sick for a day but after getting some egg yolk she started eating and drinking. She likes to peck feet and chirp really loud.
