My girl is also on day 18, do they really pip that early?? I feel like I’m not prepared! I just had to pull another hen out of her nest trying to lay an egg

Why not use a broody hen? Did you figure out the problem with your incubator?

I can’t be sure the few eggs they have will hatch. I need to incubate more to be sure all girls are taken care of.
The temperature in the house spiked with the weather, so the incubator spiked.

I’ve heard that lots of Seramas hatch on day 19, but all my other breeds have hatched day 21 or longer!

I had some internal pips and one is hatching out now!

It's going to be a long week on hatching. I had one hatch yesterday, from the 7 eggs taken from under the broody when she took her two chicks and hopped off the nest. The ones in the incubator, well I doubt they hatch. Seems I accidently unplugged the turner on day 7 and didn't find that I did that until day 16. I can't wait until it cools down so I can finish building the hatching and brooding house and everything can be out there with dedicated outlets.

Ended up with 15 chicks total
Wasn't sure when I went to bed last night if the last 2 were going to make it. Extremely weak and not perking up, so I left them in the incubator. Still weren't really active when I got up this morning, put them in with the rest to encourage them to move around. Would never guess they had such a rough start now. Just as active as the rest of the group. Time to clean up the bator (and maybe set another batch )

Hi! Can someone please tell me if this chick is shrink wrapped? It was pipped like this when I woke up this morning... The membrane is yellow and it has been peeping loudly all day.

To the right My chick I hatched from my hens. welsummer/BO Since the maran egg I was waiting to hatch didn't, I bought 2 from a friend who mail ordered RIR.
2 of my hens eggs I am waiting on due this week end. One is Wel-BO and one is prolly Maran/BO
