June 2021 Hatch - A - Long

I have the possibility of frizzles and am really hoping I get at least 1.

I just saw a local craigslist listing for silkie frizzle hatching eggs! but i dont have an incubator and cant imagine getting my broody to sit 6 days longer after the first eggs hatch. why am I so greedy

I bet your broody will be happy once her chicks hatch. I got Dodo for free from the lady I got these eggs from. When she was a baby her Momma pecked her and we welcomed her into our brooder of chicks. This will be her first hatch and I am so excited to see how it changes her behavior. She is quite dramatic.

My Aloha and FBCM eggs are in lockdown. So I am on track for a June first hatch.

I should also admit, I had space in an incubator tray and a few more eggs (9) found their way into the 10 empty slots.

Just candled my quail eggs and 32 out of 42 are developing

Unfortunately a snake got into the coop this afternoon while I was gone and stole 3 of the 8 eggs and drove the broody off her nest. I’m doubting that the remaining eggs are viable as she was off for several hours and the weather is cool. I still gave them back but they are also covered in egg goop again. I will candle in a few days and if I don’t see signs of life I will see about getting her some day olds instead.

I had put some eggs in the incubator and only 2 were fertile. (2 closest to the top left. day 5/6) So I took those same hens eggs and added the rest, day 2 (But the green is an Isbar egg) The eggs are welsummer/BO eggs, There is one BCM/isbar egg that is dark. These are fertile.

We have 2 broodies... Pants (black Cochin 3 years old) and not sure who the new one is. My husband went out there this morning to see why all the girls are screaming. It was because they took the stainless steel double seater which is the prize nesting box in our coop.

We are moving the new broody in the bunny palace so we have free nesting boxes.

Well woke up this morning to a couple of pips. Then ran to town to pick up a few things for the cookout later and came home to one of the FBCM out and stumbling around. When I left I did not see a pip on that egg. there is a great chance that the eggs got slightly warm as I was waiting for enough FBCM eggs to put in the incubator for them to start developing earlier than placing in the incubator.
