But check out the thread for crazy egg chain. People offer some eggs up and pay to have them shipped to the person who accepts the offer. And that person then offers up a set of eggs to send on. I'm sure this is no secret thread but I just found it the other day and what a cool way to get a diff breed to hatch out!
I candled tonight at day 8 and had to toss 9 eggs.
The good news is that I still have 19 eggs in the incubator (7 polish and 12 silkie). 2-3 of the eggs looked iffy but I'm afraid to throw any out that I'm not sure are bad so I'll check again in a few days.
This is my first hatch of 2010 and my most ambitious to date.
Thirty-five eggs from my mixed flock. Some I know exactly which hen-roo cross the egg is from, some I don't know the hen for certain, but I know the roo. (We only have one roo in each of two runs.)
There are some odd ones in there this time: a huge blue-green double yolker (I didn't want to try
, but DD begged even after watching the YouTube videos); one cracked and Elmer's glued shell; and one that didn't have a clear pointy end, so for now it's on its side.
With any luck I'll be trying to find homes for chicks shortly after June 19th.
