Hatching News: Day 22

2 Pure LF Light Brahma
3 LF Light Brahma x Barred Rock

2 Pips (no Change yet)
1 doing nothing......(that I can see from the window)

Temp 100 F (still air Hatcher)
Humidity 60-65%

Sorry no new pictures, the babies are in the corner and I don't think pictures of empty shells would work well!

ETA:
1 more LF Light Brahma x Barred Rock hatched,
the other LF Light Brahma x Barred Rock hatched was shrinkwrapped and I helped remove just the top of the shell, it is resting with a warm damp small rag over it. we will see if it can finish hatching on it's own......

@ BuffBeauty: Those little guys are soooo adorable! Grats on your hatch!

And a big hooray to the others who have hatched so far this month! I'm going on 1st lockdown tonight, chicks are due late Monday! *fingers crossed*

Also, the peafowl eggs came in yesterday morning while I was at work (thankfully someone took them in and put them someplace cool so they didn't bake in the sun) and I set them just before I went to bed. Day one and counting! I'm so excited I could die.

Thanks ya'll. And sort of SURPRISE!! If you'll remember I asked a week or two ago about some eggs from the neighbor kid whos hen had died, ..... well Ive been watching 4 of them to see when the bottom of the egg looked full so I could judge when to put them in LD. So they went in yesterday. And Ive had one hatch today and a pip. So Im not sure if they are hatching early or if I just LD'd them a day or two late:oops:. Weird part about it is that I have 4 more eggs that were under the same hen that are DAYS behind these but progressing along, guess we had a little sneakage going on. SO add that to my hatching and got still got some australorps and delawares to go also. And my broody on more BOs. FUN! FUN! FUN!!!

Out of 26 eggs that went into lockdown: 14 W/BW Ameraucanas and 12 EE's. I have 18 chicks that I've moved to the bator...they were running all over each other! Here's the first pic and you can tell they don't like the light (heat)! Also thought it was interesting that I only have one dark EE...

How many dark ones were you expecting? Did you have any heat spikes? We've been discussing on another thread how increased temps might preferentially harm the darker chicks.

I threw caution to the wind today and (oh so gently) plopped 2 more eggs in the incubator.

It *is* a disease, isn't it?
