June hatch-a-long!

I'll join! Had a buff orpington go broody and decided to attempt ordering fertilized eggs for her. We had 7 (now 6 - one has been broken) under her and 3 with detached air cells in the incubator. Crossing fingers on a few silkies! First broody experience and probably have done everything wrong - tried relocating; she wouldn't have it and I'm sure we others, but still hopeful! Expected hatch date ~6/10!
Welcome! I hope it goes well for you!

From reading I’m planning to candle on day 10 (May 31) and day 18 (June 8)

They should be hatching June 11.

I only have one d’Uccle hen so I’ll be marking the dates each of the eggs she laid them one and putting them under the broody.

I was planning to go incubator this year but I can’t find any good priced ones and I do have a broody so why not?

That’s my bday! If I would have held off just a few more days I could have had chicks for my bday! Lavs eggs will probably hatch early.

I'm in. Bator is heated up and ready for eggs. USPS Express was supposed to arrive today. They failed. Hope they call me in the AM to pick up. I have a 2nd set from a different breeder due to be at the post office in the AM as well. So it will be nice to set them on the same day.

I couldn't resist popping a few eggs under my silver Dorking hen, I wasn't going to, but I haven't managed to break her broodiness and she didn't get to hatch anything last year, so I felt sorry for her!

Some of the eggs have been about for longer than ideal (about 10 days maybe) but some are nice and fresh so we'll wait and see. :fl

9 eggs under her, a mix of silver Dorking, silkie and warrens all crossed with an Indian game.

So what is everyone doing in the down time between life and waiting for days to candle eggs and whatnot?

For the past hour I have been sitting next to the incubator and going through karaoke songs on youtube! Lol! Singing to my chickies, even if they're not developed enouh to hear hahaha.
Well I am currently at piano. Sadly, I can't sing to my chicks because the broody is in the seed bucket for the bird feeder in the shed and I couldn't bring that old bucket inside.

Besides doing school and other things I've been going on a bunch of bike rides.

I want to candle my eggs so bad but I still have to wait a week! :barnie
