I had one of my barred rock girls go broody and was given 8 eggs from a coworker that I put under her on May 22nd. So hopefully any day now I’ll see some progress.

Only one egg went bad, removed from nest around day 15 and cracked, didn’t seem like it ever developed.

This is my first time hatching so I'm a nervous mama I’ve had birds for 5 years, only other hen to go broody was a RedStar that I easily broke. I’m having a blast with this and really hope everything goes well!!!

I've got one egg in the incubator due to hatch tomorrow, it looked good and wiggley when I candled it yesterday so fingers crossed it hatches. It's a silkie x indian game so would be an interesting cross!

Good luck. I am 3 days behind you with my shipped silkie eggs! I am incubating though. Your hen looks like a great momma!

Day 17 of my shipped Silkie eggs. To refresh everyone's memory, 17 arrived from Florida (I'm in Cali) a day late and all air cells were detached (bad USPS!). That same day eggs from Mississippi arrived on time and in great condition. 9 eggs total. 8 black and one extra which is marked blue/splash.

By day 10, I had thrown out all 8 black eggs from Mississippi. No development. The blue/splash egg was the only one to develop.

Also threw out all but 9 of the 17 eggs from Florida with lack of development or blood rings. Checked eggs regularly cuz I meddle... (No self control!!!). All 10 eggs were fine until today when the veins and movement disappeared in another egg from Florida. So I now have 8 black silkie eggs from Florida and 1 blue splash egg from Mississippi. Kept the dead one in, just in case... As if.... But oh well. Hoping for some good luck by Thursday!

Ugh!! I am so mad! There has been nothing from 5 of the eggs so I super quick candled them since the house is a lot warmer and humid right now.

At least 4 of them look like they could very well be shrink wrapped. No idea how this happened as the humidity had been really good in the incubator.

What sucks even worse is two of then are two of the eggs that were under the hen and had under developed air sacs. They were still at that day 17 size and suddenly, today they're huge.

One still appeared to be okay *fingers crossed* if it hatched then I'll have 8 chicks altogether. Four have external pips 3 have hatched, and then the 1 that hasn't rocked but I could see moving and the air sac looked normal.

Eight out of 22 eggs. I've had the humidity up between 65 and 70% since Saturday morning when they went into lockdown. The air sacs were fine, then.

Mine are coming!!!

I went out to shut the coop door and decided on a quick check. A little too excited to remember exactly but (I think) only one hasn’t pipped at all. Gonna be hard to sleep tonight!

Once internally pipped, the air cells look huge. Sounds normal to me. Expect external pip 12-24 hours after internal pip, and 12-24 hours til they start to zip after external pip!
