June hatch-a-long!

Pics
7 chicks altogether now! One last chick is in the egg. I can see it has pipped internally. I really hope it hatches. It's one that was under the hen.

I believe the other 4 eggs have dead chicks in them. 2 looked shrinkwrapped and 2 didn't look quite right and I'm wondering if they bled out inside the egg.

Here's the babies born last night and today:

This last one looks far wetter than the others did. I think I may have the humidity too high so I'm working to lower it some, hoping I don't drown the last chick that hasn't pipped externally.

@ChirpyChicks1 I must have been thinking of the picture and question earlier in the thread.

I hear you on the space. On payday I plan to get supplies for more of those chicken panels I make. I will be testing them in the goats area and see if I can make a relatively safe chicken tractor with them.

If the goats are too interested I will have to find another spot.

Oh I really hope so!!! I'm just on edge after the one shrink wrap and the bleed out.

The 4th chick has hatched! Three more externally pipped eggs to go!

Oh ans what do yall think? It's been so hot in the house that the heat lamp makes it a bit too warm for them so I put a board over part of it to give them a little bit cooler area if they want it. They were all laying alone and like they were hot. But after I put the board up they all snuggled up here lol.

The green thing is another cave dealm the duck one doesn't want to sit right anymore. They do enjoy it from time to time.

Oh and the box is long and the light was causing even the other side to get too warm and I can't move it up anymore. The board doesn't cover the whole box, just a little over a foot of it so the other side is still getting light.

Maybe get a smaller watt lightbulb instead? They do need a cool 3nd and a warm end, but this seems like they got cold and need more heat. They will chirp louder than the regular little peeps too if they get cold.

Congrats. Humidity spikes with each chick that hatches. It will go down again on it's own. No worries. If you play with the humidity too much it can be dangerous. Just let it he.

One thing you can do for your next hatch is put the fubber type of shelf liner down. It looks like their little feet can have a hard time in there. Just a suggestion.

Ugh, I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to upload this short video but I gave up :barnie

I found the bottom to an old small animal carrier and filled it with bedding. Not as tall sided as I wanted but it’ll work for now. The nesting box (2 boxes combined) was taking most of the playpen up plus the other hens wanted their beloved box back.

6 of 7 eggs have hatched. The last one hasn’t pipped yet. Today was hatch day so how long should I give it before removing it? I was going to wait until tomorrow.

Maybe a small cardboard box they can go under instead of the bigger board?
