June Hatch A Long

Thank you. Again first time and I'm paranoid. What should I have should I need to assist?

Anytime I see something out of the norm I go into "helicopter mom" (hovering over the incubator) mode too and I'm not even new anymore. lol!
IF you need to step in I would expect it to be an easy assist. I don't think you'll need anything special other than to remember to breathe, lol. I've had chicks that pipped on the wrong end that unzipped without any trouble though so hopefully yours will too! :):fl

Fingers crossed. My 8 year old would be beside herself. Weve lost two chickens in 2 weeks she needs some good news.

Lol. I was holding the snake in one hand at the level of my shoulder and its head nearly touching the ground, because evidently the adrenaline fried portion of my brain made me forget how to hold it properly, stomping toward the house and yelling at the top of my lungs for my daughter to come out and help me (again, I can only plead adrenaline brain). My lone guinea cock, who should have been guarding his girls nest, finally showed up in a frantic rush to defend his girls. I waved the snake at him and told him that he needed to up his game, and that I thought all should now be forgiven for my mistake in dropping the yeast container on their nest...
AAAAAAAAAAAAH. You’re better than me. Ick!

That’s so sweet! My 16 year old daughter and I do this as a joint project as well. I’m pretty sure that I will be looking back at these days with great nostalgia...
Love this.

Tried to get photos...
they tried to run everywhere

Here is what @CluckNDoodle and @LilyD suggest.

I'm just joining in and I'm feeling really nervous. My broodies have hatched quite a bit so far this year; in fact, one more should be popped out of the shell by the time I get home from work to join the rest of Pearl's current batch of 6. However, I have some shipped eggs in the incubator that are due to hatch later this week and now I'm getting anxious lol. It's not to say I don't care about my broodies' BYM clutches... but I sure will be disappointed if my hatch doesn't go well later this week. I just have to remember to breathe (and not think about the money and time spent acquiring the eggs). Right now I am down to 10 eggs out of 24 shipped, and I have to remind myself that that is typical and not necessarily a bad sign. Heck, I've had 0% hatches on shipped eggs, though around 50% is pretty normal IME. I'm also trying to decide if I want to let my other broody raise them. She's a pretty good mama, but again I'm nervous about losses. I could pull my hair out, despite having hatched hundreds of chicks and keets over the past 5 or so years! :barnie

Lots of activity on here today! I got back from a concert with my oldest and have... No baby ducks lol. But it looks like to have pip'd internally so we'll see what the morning brings! Who am I kidding. I'll probably come down to check them after my 6 month old gets up at some crazy hour for a feeding

Plus side... After losing Abu yesterday hubby said I can get another orpington talked to someone about picking up a lavender

I have a lavender not as happy with her as my others she isn't as friendly but is good looking. I also have a blue and a splash that are from the same hatchery nice birds looks wise but they are very flighty hoping they get better as they get older.

Hi Sun, I’m not nearly as experienced as you, but am also planning on shipped eggs placed under a broody at 18 days! That will be this Wednesday PM.

Question. This one is pip'd and the membrane was dry. I added some coconut oil into it. Thing is, the duckling pip'd on a weird side. Im not sure if you can see it in the pictures (had a hard time as my iPad doesn't have a light) but the pip is on the side where the chick is not the air side that's clear. Suggestions?

He has a good size air hole for breathing I would leave him so he can absorb his veins and yolk sac and assist if he makes no more progress in about 24 hours.

Welcome! You got this! It's the final stretch! I still have yet to hatch shipped eggs but I have traveled long distances to pick them up myself. I usually find with my personal experience that most of my quitters happen in the first couple of weeks so I hope the same happens for you and that the rest make it to lockdown successfully!
