June Hatch A Long

I did a super quick candling of the shipped eggs this morning, day 7. Not very good, looks like 7 or so developing, one very strong blood ring. It's early though, and I will NOT pick them up and move them around to thoroughly candle, so we shall see on day 17 what I actually have.

Are you going to let mama chicken raise the ducklings for awhile or are you going to take them straight away to your house and raise them in a brooder box?

The way that her coop is set up they unfortunately can't be raised by Mama. They'll be coming home with me once dry.

That's the thing I love about Orpingtons, they're so calm! I have two roosters, and they're an absolute delight.

So out of everyone in this group who has the earliest hatch date??? When will we start seeing the little fuzz balls arrive?

I have duck eggs that are at day 28 tomorrow. I just got back from checking them and too have pipped already. I'm so flipping excited haha

My broody was off the nest and I candled the eggs just now! All 4 are developing, lots of veins!
The dates written on the eggs are the dates they were laid. Three were put under broody on May 23rd, and then the Spitz hen laid one more on the 24th, so I added that one just in case the others were too old. Next day I sold that hen so those were her last eggs here.

My little malposition duckling passed this morning when the power went out. The duckling chilled and didn’t make it though the long power outage today.

I am not sure if my non pipped egg survived yet, waiting a few hours yet to check.

Checked my other egg that was due to hatch this weekend. Sadly it didn’t survive the power outage. No veins or movement. So very sadly my last batch of black East Indies has all died.
