June Hatch A Long

Just asked for a status report from the husband he says he's not seeing any movement in the two pipped eggs and not able to hear either of them. Now he does have hearing issues and the little bomber in with the eggs is quite loud so that could be why he can't hear the ones in the egg or they could have had another issue that made them unable to hatch. Fingers crossed they are just taking a break and it's not something else. :idunno

I'm hoping for the best!! :fl

If you'll recall I was given some eggs a few weeks ago. One carton from a friend that didn't know what she had, well...they hatched last night and I still don't know what they are. :lau They're kind of ratty little babies, one with feathered legs and I'm going to go out on a limb and say they're mutts. lol, But so sweet just the same! And I guess this would be considered a 100% hatch even though there's only 2 chicks because all but these 2 weren't fertilized and I didn't set a couple because they were cracked.

I’m so sad some kind of duck wasn’t fertilized.

Cute ratty babies though!!

Well got home and it was worst case scenario. Veining was totally gone in the non pipped eggs and they were smelly and had more fluid than when I left this am. The two pipped eggs had passed while I had been gone. It looks like shortly after I left this morning. So that means that my hatch total for this hatch is 4 Lone Oak Crele and 3 English Crele. I tried to set the camera up in the barn so we could watch them but unfortunately it's too far away from the wifi. Going to have to ask Santa for a wifi booster for Christmas :p I did do do a video while I was out there though. They are awfully cute. :love

Congrats on the babies that hatched successfully!! :celebrate
It sound like your hatch was still pretty good for shipped eggs too! Sorry about the little ones that were so close, that's always the hardest. :hugs

It really is. They were peeping a little bit when I left this morning but not loud and strong so I was worried that they were gone. Still a very good hatch for shipped eggs considering most have moving air cells when I candled and ended up with Saddle shaped air cells by lock down which I think makes it harder for the babies to pip in the end.

Fabulous news that you had 7 hatch!

I think I’m taking a gamble on July AND shipping and ordering an Orpington assortment. I’m going into it thinking 50% will be an extremely successful hatch.

Breeder thinks there’s a two day window this week that could work. I have to make sure I have enough brooder and coop space to hatch again this year.

... or time to make some.

Yup have to ship when it cools down some of they will start incubating in shipping. 50 % is a good shipped hatch since staying and jostling can make the eggs unviable
