June Hatch A Long

Pics
I have to thank everyone for all the help, encouragement, and support. This has been a very positive experience for me. After my first hatch I was wondering if I would be strong enough to try again, or if the incubators were a waste, because I wouldn’t have the courage to attempt another hatch. (My losses were heartbreaking and not knowing who needed culled soon enough left me with week olds that I eventually realized needed it, which was also very hard for me)

I can now say I have regained some confidence and I will be able to move ahead with regularly hatching out meat chicks and more layers. You are all awesome! I really appreciate all the experience and knowledge you all have and your willingness to share it!

I'm sooo glad your hatch went so much better this time and that you shared your experience with us! I'm also happy that some of us had the experience to be able to help you through a bit as well! You will learn something new every time you hatch chicks and it's always a little different but I am confident you will continue to have great hatches! Even those of us that are experienced will have bad hatches sometimes and it's not a reflection on you! I hope you'll share a few more pictures of all your fluffy butts with us when you have a chance! :love

Hey all! I am starting Day 7 this afternoon. I've been drooling over some BCM eggs from a certain breeder, I bid on a dozen, and won! It looks like out of the 12, 5 started developing, 1 looks like a potential early quitter , but the other 4 are looking good. For shipped eggs this time of year, I'm pretty happy with 4!

I definitely didn't need more right now, but I couldn't resist! I have 8 from a March hatch that are almost big enough to go with the big girls, so the brooder space will be opened up for the new hatch.
Hi there Julia! We are hatch buddies! I’m also on day 7 with shipped BCM eggs, plus some of our home bred OE eggs. I’ve been traveling out want to candle when I get home tonight! Do you have any luck candling marans eggs this early? I couldn’t see the air cell when I examined before setting...

I’ve enjoyed reading about your hatch! So glad that it went well. Enjoy your babies!

I have a pretty high powered LED flashlight I bought off of Amazon, I can make out the air cell on most, and I can see very very faint development. The eggs sent are a 4, maybe 1 or 2 5s on the Marans color chart. I usually like to toss my clears right as soon as I can tell, but the marans are definitely a lot tougher!

I think these are just a shade darker...
