June Hatch A Long

Argh! Day 21 and anxiously waiting on 22 eggs with no sign of any hatching
Would it make a difference that the eggs were originally put in the incubator about 11pm at night?
Hoping to see some chicks by morning but how many days do I leave them before calling it quits and turning it off?
I find the time to set at night too! So, our current batch was set at 10 PM on a Saturday. As I’ve been counting, that means that day 21 starts at 10 PM on a Saturday, and day 22 doesn’t start until 10 pm on Sunday. If they aren’t late, you might want to leave the lid closed to keep humidity up. You could try gently tapping on the incubator with the fan off and the house quiet to see if you can hear any cheeps in response! Could also play a sound file of a broody chicken click. Peeps would mean that they’ve internally pipped!

Yes, you would call that “day zero” so just keep patient they will come

My turner is like that too but for shipped eggs I think that is best because it keeps them more upright so the air cell develops on top and doesn't migrate. Going to hatch in plastic egg cartons with the bottoms cut off that way they are still upright during hatch which may be better since they were shipped. We are on day 4 today.
Thanks Lily! Since you have the same type of turner, do those air cells seem about the right size for day 14 eggs?

So, Summer tried to kill her chick. Thankfully, I was with her when the chick hatched. I grabbed the chick and moved Summer. She tried to kill it two more times! I put her back is the regular chicken pen and tried to see if Lacey would take it. She took it and they love eachother now! Another one hatched under Lacey, too. Now Lacey has Summers eggs plus her own eggs. Her eggs aren't due for another week. Will she wait on her own eggs now?

Wow, talk about good news bad news! I haven’t had to deal with this scenario yet, but my understanding from others on BYC is that the staggered hatch doesn’t work with a broody. Others have said that she will likely abandon the still incubating eggs. I guess it’s possibe that she won’t? Can you get an incubator going? Anyone else broody who you could put chicks under if they hatch? If you have broody breeds, maybe you could induce broodiness with a pile of golf balls in a nest box? Otherwise you may need to incubate, raise and integrate chicks via standard methods...

I don't have anymore broodys. IDK how to set up an incubator, and I don't think I have what I need anyway. UGH, she seemed like she was gonna be such a good mom, too!
