June Hatch A Long

I don't have anymore broodys. IDK how to set up an incubator, and I don't think I have what I need anyway. UGH, she seemed like she was gonna be such a good mom, too!
I’m so sorry! I’ve been doing a ton of reading about broodies. Someone said that the broody wants the hatching chicks to get back under her when it moves to her front. She pecks the chick to get it to go back under, but the chick can’t or won’t so sets up a cascading peck intensity. So, the person helps by picking up the chick that is in front of the hen and puts under her from behind. Observe, repeat, observe. Can you grab summer and put her on some fake or table eggs and see if she’s still broody? If so, intro babies and eggs at night and be there at dawn to see if she’s accepted them?

I already tried putting baby in front/under her. Also, watching Lacey, she pecks them too but much gentler

Can you possibly enclose them some way where there’s enough room for the chicks to get food and water and bounce around a bit without mama thinking she needs to get off the nest?

So, Summer tried to kill her chick. Thankfully, I was with her when the chick hatched. I grabbed the chick and moved Summer. She tried to kill it two more times! I put her back is the regular chicken pen and tried to see if Lacey would take it. She took it and they love eachother now! Another one hatched under Lacey, too. Now Lacey has Summers eggs plus her own eggs. Her eggs aren't due for another week. Will she wait on her own eggs now?

Oh my goodness! Nice save by Lacey! She will wait for a day or two for eggs to finish hatching but it's very very unlikely that she will wait another week because she will need to get up and start caring for the other chicks.
If Summer will still sit on eggs I would do what @Mixed flock enthusiast is suggesting and put the eggs with a week left to hatch under her or take this time to get comfortable with an incubator. If Summer will sit on them for the next week you'll need to watch very closely and take the chicks as soon as they hatch. When broodies prove to be bad Moms that's usually all they will ever be.
I know incubating eggs in an incubator can seem daunting at first but it's really not so bad! Your easiest solution would be to get one and get it ready so that when she leaves the nest it will already be at temp and ready for them.

Lots of activity on here today! I got back from a concert with my oldest and have... No baby ducks lol. But it looks like to have pip'd internally so we'll see what the morning brings! Who am I kidding. I'll probably come down to check them after my 6 month old gets up at some crazy hour for a feeding

Plus side... After losing Abu yesterday hubby said I can get another orpington talked to someone about picking up a lavender
