June Hatch-A-Long

Pics
I wish mine would go into the woods. Or the pasture. Instead they persist in scratching the bark dust out of my flower beds and climbing into my planters to murder my flowers (or in this week's case, my poor tiny tomato plants). They have several acres they could freely roam, tons of bugs and tasty plants everywhere. I guess they must be city chickens, I have to lock them up or they spend all day hanging out on my porch 😂
:lau mine do this sometimes too!! They dig up the mulch or raid my garden or beg on the porch for treats. 😂🤣 but they also roam and eat good stuff that isn’t my stuff LOL

Wheaten Marans eggs arrived today! @Vantic (my review per request :) ) The eggs were well packed, big box with lots of tightly crumpled newspaper and packing peanuts, and eggs were individually wrapped in bubble wrap - not really any loose space. The box arrived without any damage, but had an extra day shipping as it got stuck at a sorting facility. The eggs were shipped on their side (which I am not a fan of). Initial candle of the eggs showed some wobbly air cells and 1 saddled air cell, but not too terrible (I've had eggs show up with air cells much worse than these). 1 egg has a slight hairline crack...but it looks more like one of the cracks that happens before it is laid and gets repaired as there is a bit of a ridge where the crack is and I cannot catch my finger on it. I will probably still wax over it because I noticed it didn't fully repair - there are a couple spots that look like huge pores on the crack line. Overall, I am pleased with the packing.View attachment 2142082View attachment 2142085View attachment 2142092View attachment 2142094
Thank you for the follow up. I look forward to your first candle, then I will have to "pull the trigger". We could have siblings on our properties.

My shipped eggs finally arrived, overnight express now takes almost a week here. June 6th hatch date for 12 Pekin Bantam eggs in a mix of blue, splash, mille fleur and salmon. Fingers crossed for 2-4 pullets to keep. I've not hatched before so family are doing it for me and have added another 9 eggs from their chickens to the inc (mostly wyandotte, campine) because chicken math. So excited my chicks are finally on their way!

my girls are ready for the June hatch along! Both are sitting on 5 eggs each! 5 barnyard mix and 5 mottled Javas!

Day 8 for my ducks. I put 35 eggs in and only tossed 5! That’s huge for me this year as 14 of them are shipped from another breeder. I’ve had horrible luck with shipped eggs this year. The last two dozen I tried I had a 0% hatch rate. I’ve hatched from this breeder before and had a 90% rate so I was hoping that even with longer postal times I’d get a few hens for myself.
