Now question time for me as I have only incubated chickens once and they were not shipped eggs. I have two solid set air cells, two saddled and 3 that might be detached at 9 hours after setting in the carton.

so here are my questions first how badly will a saddled air cell effect a chicken eggs hatching or developing? I have delt with many in ducks but some of the most severe ones I usually have to assist in some way. Second are they similar to duck eggs if I let them rest longer the air cell might become more stable? Right now I am not feeling so hot with 3 out of the 7 being dead out of the box so to speak. I have never had a detached air cell develop in two years of incubation.
My worst air cell EVER was an Ameraucana. Totally detached and it lost almost 50% of its weight at lockdown. It totally hatched.

yes, a totally detached cell sucks, but its not a total death sentence. I always incubate shipped eggs upright.

Eggs are in. 13 silkies. They should hatch around the 11th. These are shipped eggs so will be have turned. There's is unplugged. Only using it to support the individual egg cartons.

Just set my BCM eggs for a June 11th hatch :) Soooo excited. This will be my last batch from purchased hatching eggs this year. Really have to put the foot down as we have three new breeds to add to the coop this spring - Salmon Faverolles, Wheaten Ameraucanas, and now these Black Copper Marans!

Those two eggs to the right are amazing!

My Belgian d’uccle and Swedish hedemora eggs have arrived! I’ll candle them once I get home and see what kind of monstrosity-looking air cells I’ll be dealing with. Lol. Fingers crossed the hedemora eggs are alright. Those suckers were expensive. Lol.

Where abouts are you in Canada? I'd love to add Swedish Hedemoras to the flock next year, but don't know anyone on the east coast who has them :)
