Good to know that that they came packaged well from Breezy Bird Farms. I won't be ordering from DC Heritage any time soon as I know a little too much about their history and how they run things. Breezy Bird would probably be my only option for the Hedemoras right now![]()
Oh? It’s so hard to know what to avoid around here, not a lot of options! I’ll let everyone know how that order goes then; I ordered chicks and ducklings to arrive the second week of June, so it’ll be interesting to see. Hopefully it goes ok... I don’t really want to lose my deposit... lol.Agreed about DC Heritage!!

I’m very happy with the entire process from breezy bird, I’d probably be willing to order day olds from them next season if it works out The ordering process is fast and easy, the website is easy to navigate, and like I said, packed very well! And, I ordered on Monday and they were shipped Tuesday, arrived today right on time. I like.![]()
I’ll let y’all know how the hatch goes with these! My duck eggs that I got from there as well are on their final week, so far so good. All the eggs have been nice and clean too, which is a feat with duck eggs! Haha.Yeah, options are limited in Canada for sure if you are looking for anything a bit out of the ordinary. I sourced within Nova Scotia this year for hatching eggs to avoid shipping them - so far so good. I've heard a lot of good things about Breezy Bird and they seem to keep good healthy birds![]()
Looks like the black ones might have been mixed with the BCM or something if you’re seeing that color on their feather tips.I must have accidentally deleted the pics of one of the black Gem/Lavender Orpington crosses. Here have 5 of the 6. This is one of the black ones....it would not hold still. I think it is a pullet.

This is my definite cockerel in the color I really wanted.View attachment 2153154View attachment 2153156
Another black one - pullet. (The three black ones look pretty much identical).

This is the steel grey one. When I picked it up to take a picture I noticed that it has some bronze color on the tips of some of it's feathers. It also is the only one that had feathers on its legs and a weird hairdo. The person I got them from also has Copper Marans....so wondering if a Copper Maran rooster got in with the Sapphire Gems or Lavender Orpingtons. Having a hard time deciding pullet or cockerel on this one.

And this is my other lavender color chick. This one is the one I am most unsure about as it is starting to get color in it's waddles and it's comb has gotten bigger over the last week. I'm thinking cockerel.

They are 5 weeks today.
