June Hatch-A-Long

Now I want to read the story lol where is it
LOL. Its probably over 100 (at least) pages from last year's June hatch-a-long. Im going to summarize. And this is not a fish story.

@Mixed flock enthusiast had a gigantic community guinea nest they were brooding. Disaster struck, eggs smashed, babies eaten, everything. They rescued dozens of the eggs and got into an incubator. Grimey, covered in death and foul eggs. Then, that incubator had an ongoing hatch in it for who knows how long.

They literally had to monitor each egg, and, as it started to hatch, remove it from the incubator, assist the hatch, literally disinfect the chick, and get it another incubator to dry.

Not only that, but, the eggs were laid whenever the heck the guineas wanted to. So it went on for days and days and days and days. It was EPIC. I don't think they lost hardly anything, it was dedication like you can't imagine.

And, I cannot imagine the smell they dealt with. I just can't. Wow.

Last June was fun. @CluckNDoodle

That sounds like a very good hatch a long.

I’m hoping my chickens are nice because the 3 are ridiculous. Each have 7 eggs. I took 3 and shoved them in the bator because one was hardly on them... she had too many 🙄 They should hatch in June. Hoping someone else has broodies as well.

Hi all!! I thought I would jump on in here since I have eggs due to hatch in 9-10 days! It's turing to winter here and I swore I would hold off until spring but figured I could deal with a tiny clutch of 6 eggs from one of my girls but threw in two other eggs because why not lol. Candled D10 and have 5 chicks developing, the ones with the lines were infertile.

We currently have 7 guineas from a batch I raised 3 years ago. I am done with the noise of them. When the chickens from the batch in the incubator start laying, I will be learning how to butcher guineas! My 11-year-old keeps asking when we are going to murder them. I think she's done with the noise too!
